Description
Shown in the photograph is the small chapel on the grounds of Cervena Lhota Castle, which is known as the Red Castle, located in Bohemia, Czech Republic. The chapel is situated on a little hill above the moat surrounding the castle, captured as snow was falling on an early January day. The stillness on this visit was only punctuated by the softly falling snow and distant bird calls. The small buff stone chapel is surrounded by bare branches and dry grasses emerging from the snow.
The four-winged two-storey château, originally constructed in the 14th Century, with a small coutyard in the center, occupies the whole rock and juts into the fishpond. A stone bridge, built in 1622, links the château with the banks of the pond, replacing the original drawbridge.[4] The interiors have an extensive collection of historic furniture, tiled stoves, pictures, porcelain and other items. The southern edge of the fishpond is covered in thick forest, which forms a backdrop to the château. On the northern side is a landscaped park where the Renaissance Chapel of the Holy Trinity is situated. A marked circular path tretches around the fishpond. Rowing across the fishpond is a pleasant diversion on a hot summer day, and boats can be hired near the château.

Thanks, William. It was amazing - like being transported to a frozen fairy tale - castle, moat and all. Appreciate your vote.

Thanks, Joan. It was a very nice trip. My husband's boss owns a little hotel in the village of Tabor and invited several of the staff a couple of years ago. A wonderful opportunity for me. I would love to go back myself.
