Description
Shown is a view from within the church of Mission Espiritu Santo near Goliad, Texas. This primitive fresco reminds all who pass through the door that this is the passage from the "Heavenly" to "Earthly" realm.
Espiritu Santo, which translates, Holy Spirit, was established in in 1722 by the Franciscans. It was one of the most successful of the missions ministering the needs of Karankawa Indian tribes: the Cocos, Copanes, and Cujanes.
The mission buildings and grounds are now part of Goliad State Park administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Cheri, the contrast between nature and the fresco inside is unbelievebal beautiful - you did a very good job - again!! V/F - Dagmar
Cheri Randolph replied:
Dagmar, thanks for your compliment and the V/F, both are most appreciated. I was surprised at how the simple fresco seemed to glow within the darkened church interior.
