Early evening twilight lighting enhances reflections of the magnificent Kylemore Castle in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. In this photograph, I was fortunate to capture the wild countryside surrounding this elegant castle. Dried reeds and grasses surrounding the water are highlighted by the last glimmering rays of sunlight with the castle perfectly reflected in the still waters. The heathery and earthy tones of the surrounding foliage combine to provide a most pleasing composition.
Constructed in 1867 for Mitchell Henry and his wife, Margaret as a residence. It contains over 40,000 square feet, over 70 rooms. It was purchased in the 1920s by Benedictine nuns, who operated a boarding school for Catholic girls, which was only recently closed in 2010. Now, maintained by the Benedictines as a tourist attraction.
This photograph would make a wonderful addition to the collection of anyone who enjoys travel or landscape photography, perfect for an office or home.
