Artist's Description
This photograph was taken of the Elmwood Plantation ruins in the mid-1990s. It was located just up river from New Orleans on River Road. It burned for the third time in 1978 and the abandoned ruins remained standing for about 20 years. It was finally demolished to make way for a housing development soon after this photograph was taken.
About Cheri Randolph
Cheri Randolph was awarded a degree in Fine Arts from the University of New Orleans with a concentration in the study of Art History. She credits printmaker, Calvin Harlan , a UNO professor, as being quite influential in her composition techniques as well as painter, Ida Kohlmeyer with a better understanding of color. Pictorialism would best describe her current work, stylistically. Cheri has expressed her artistic talents in a variety of ways including; wheel-thrown pottery, quilting, vintage clothing restoration, interior decorative painting and photography. Michael, I was very fortunate and happened to be driving down River Rd. with my camera when the wisteria was blooming. I think it was bulldozed about a month later.
