Nice capture of this canal shot, Cheri, as it is a shame that we see so must degradation of the buildings, as we noticed it when we were there too. It does give a new look to the buildings, but surrounded by water, saturated with sulfur, as I WAS told when we asked about the back up smell of sewer in our hotel, it surely does degrade the materials surrounding those waters. This is a nice capture and well presentative of the view of living conditions there, and hopefully the interiors are less affected. LOL I like the colors and the typical shot of this area. You have captured history of the area. fave and vote
Cheri Randolph replied:
Hi Randy, thanks for your thoughtful comment. I've been there twice, and didn't notice the smell that you mentioned. Once we stayed at a hotel right on the Grand Canal, but this time we were farther out in a neighborhood in an apartment. We walked everywhere while we were there, and rode the water taxis all around. Perhaps it was just the time of year when you visited? I agree that there is a lot of deterioration - I guess it's just a lack of funding. Makes for nicely textured art work, though:-) Thanks for your F/V!

This is so awesome... I love all the textures in this shot.... even the boat has that really wonderful weathered feel that matches the buildings... yet the colours are still so vibrant. :D....v
