Excellent pov and capture, Cheri, f/v.

Cheri Randolph replied:

Sandi, Thanks for the compliment and the F/V. Have to smile about the pov, as it was my only option, since I was shooting by wedging my lens in through the chained cast iron gate of the tomb.

Brenda, I sincerely appreciate your thoughtful compliment, as this is one of my favorites. It was a magical thing as I was processing the image that this strength seemed to appear before me because the actual sculpture gives very little of this impression. If you are interested I will send you a copy of the unprocessed version.

Cheri, many thanks for visiting my site...I wanted to tell you how gorgeous this image is....You captured it is such a sensitive and beautiful way. I have always had a " thing" for cemetary angels and statues....( I've actually painted a few) . This image evokes a true artictic expression of submission.

Artist's Description

"Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep" ~ Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

I discovered this angel at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans. She seemed to be submitting herself entirely to a higher power as she ascended into heaven. I really appreciated the texture of the wing feathers, which became almost three- dimensional as I was processing the photograph.

This photograph has been processed using a watercolor filter and will be more effective if printed on a matte surface paper such as watercolor or Somerset Velvet paper.
