Cheri, Oh, what an adorable little boy. This precious photo speaks to my heart. I love your work and plan to view more of it this evening. Thank you for your gracious comment about my picture of me when I was younger. Yes, I think schoolmarmish is a word. If it's not, we can officially make it one. You really cheered me up with your kind words.... P.S. There is a Carrollton, VA, just about 5 miles from here. However I know they whole scenario is very different from the Carollton you mentioned in one of your descriptions. Smiles, Anne F/V

Cheri, What a face! What a photo! I love "candid" photos.. I didn't even realize that was a frozen treat, until I read your description. I'm glad you told us that! Anyways love the expression on this little guy's face!

Artist's Description

With permission from Jamaul's mother, I captured his wary look as he sat on the front stoop of his home in the Black Pearl Neighborhood of New Orleans. He is enjoying a frozen treat as so many kids have done for years in this family oriented neighborhood - trying to "beat the heat" of New Orleans in the Summer.

For additional historical information about this neighborhood, please see the description in my Black Pearl Gallery
